How to use PDF Grader PRO
Welcome to PDF Grader Pro! Follow this guide to grade your exams efficiently.
Step 1: Start a New Project
- Open the app and tap "Start New Exam".
- Enter the Exam Details:
- Exam Name: (e.g., Final Exam 2024)
- Counts: Set the number of subjects/questions to grade.
- Pages per Exam: Enter the exact number of pages used by one student. (This is crucial for automatically separating students.)
- Tap Upload PDF to import your scanned exam file.
Step 2: Register Students
Once the PDF is loaded, you will enter the Student Name Input screen.
- Enter the name of the first student displayed on the screen.
- Tap "Next". The app will automatically jump to the starting page of the next student based on your settings.
- Repeat until all students are named. The total student count is calculated automatically.
Step 3: Set Areas & Rubrics
Define where each answer is located on the page for a smoother grading experience.
- Define Areas: Drag on the screen to draw a box around the answer area for each question. The app will focus on this area during grading.
- Set Points: Assign the maximum score for each question.
- (Optional) Rubric Setup: Go to detailed settings to create checklists or scoring criteria for precise grading.
Step 4: Grading
Start grading using one of the two modes:
- By Question: Grade "Question 1" for all students consecutively. (Recommended for consistency).
- By Student: Grade an entire exam for one student, then move to the next.

- Apple Pencil: Write feedback and annotations directly on the PDF.
- Scoring: Enter scores manually in the side panel, or simply tap your pre-set Rubric items to calculate the score automatically.
Step 5: Export Results
Finished grading?
- Check the Results Screen for class averages and individual scores.
- Tap Export and choose your format:
- Excel (.xlsm): A comprehensive gradebook with detailed stats.
- PDF: Individual exam papers containing your handwritten grading and scores.
